MAXIMAPHILY – DEFINITION

Maximaphily is a branch of Philately : Its aim is to collect postage stamps.

a. - affixed to a picture postcard complying with certain conditions of concordance.

b. - postmarked under certain conditions of concordance.

This philatelic item has been known since 1932 as a MAXIMUM CARD, because the three elements :-

The postage stamp, the picture postcard, the cancellation, must all present the "maximum"concord.


(1) The Postage Stamp

  • The stamp should be postally valid
  • And the stamp should be in pristine condition.
  • As in thematic exhibiting, classes of stamps not issued for postal purposes, e.g. fiscals, officials, charity stamps, postage dues and etc., are not permitted. Also stamps from F.I.P. considered undesirable countries or issues.
  • There should be only one stamp on all Maxicards produced after 1974. (Fig.1).
